FH and I got signed up a 24 hour fitness Monday and I've gone twice this week to exercise (once Sunday on a free pass and last night). I managed to do 21 mins each time one the eliptical trainer, four sets of 20 on the ab machine(uhg, that was rough), 25 reps of 20 pounds each on two of the leg machines, and 25 reps of 30 lbs on two of the arms machines and 15 at 10 lbs and 10 at 15lbs on the tricep machine. I'm pretty proud of myself since I forgot my headphones and only had the crappy quiet gym music and my own mind to keep me motivated. I'm going to try to keep this up at least four times a week and see where it gets me. I should figure out some little reward if I meet my goal... suggestions?

Hello all, I just joined up!

My name is Emilie, I'm 24, and live in Portland, OR. My wedding is a mere five weeks away (sep.t 2, 2006) and all my attempts to improve my health in recent past have not been incredibly succesfull I turn to this group for motivation.

FH and I went to look at 24-hour fitness yesterday and are likely going to join up soon, we just have to get the finances in order first. I really think I need to join a gym because this whole doing it by myself thing isn't working, i'm maintaining if not gaining.

Last wednesday I had my wisdom teeth out. The day before I had to stop eating at a certain time, and then for 4 days I had liquid foods, or mushy foods. I also had much less of an appetite from the painkillers, and the fact that eating was so much work. Now I can eat more normal things, but still nothing crunchy or too hard to eat.

However, the good to come from all of this is that I lost 5 pounds. This was a good jump-start for me because I have been struggling to be able to diet all summer. And spending 4 days indoors, has made me appreciate walking more. Yesterday I felt good enough to go for a walk, and today I am excited to go again.

So even though I had to deal with pain and nausea, and groginess, and all that, the wisdom teeth surgery has had one bright side.

My new goals for the next few weeks are to walk at least 4 times a week and continue eating only when hungry. Then, in a couple weeks when I move I will have free access to a gym and instead of walking, I will go there at least 4 times a week.

My wedding is now going to be next spring instead of in 2008, so I have even more motivation knowing I have less time.

Biked to Curves today...really glad i did. I was really feeling like, "ehhhhh, don't want to," but I went anyway, which is unusual for me. I usually find a way to be "too busy" when that happens. Hard to get motivated during the workout, though. probably didnt' burn quite as many calories as last time, but hey, at least I went - and the bike ride was more than last time (I drove last time - bad weather) so it probably levels out.

Must get to sleep! ^_^

Tomorrow: Push ups!

Subject:newbie... about to change my name!
Time:02:21 pm
hello everyone... i'm jessie, and i'm getting married in 3.5 weeks on august 5th!

i wish i had found this community a lot sooner, but as it stands, this will work. :-)

now, my dress is sleeveless, and i'd prefer for my arms not to be quite as flabby.  they're not insanely large or anything, but they definitely spread when i hold them against me.  in most every picture it looks kinda bad.

i'm not overly heavy; i'm 5'2" and ~140lbs, and my dress is a 12 (i'm part lebanese so i've got HUGE hips).  i'm just looknig for something i can do between now and the 5th to tone up my arms.  any suggestions?

Hey all, just joined.

My name is Rebecca (Beka), I'm 21, and getting married on Halloween of this year (HOLY CRAP, ONLY 3 MONTHS)!

PICTURES!Collapse )

I am actually the physical personification of "big-boned." If you don't believe me, ask my father (the ogre), haha.

Anywho, I'm about 187 right now, and I originally aspired to get down the high 60's... but I realize now that's not going to happen. Now I'm just trying to maybe loose a bit more, try not to GAIN, and find a REALLY good girdle! ;-)

The problem is we all get soooooo wrapped up in our appearance for our "big day," but really, the people who truly love us have loved us all along, and they don't need to see us make ourselves miserable to look "perfect."

Remember ladies, as long as you're healthy and happy, that's all that matters! Don't believe me? Ask your fiance! ;-)

Subject:reminders
Time:12:51 pm
For weight loss inspiration, I put a couple things on my fridge as reminders. One is a photo I cut out from a wedding magazine of a bride and groom on the beach, because I want a beach wedding. This is to help remind me to think of my wedding and how in shape I want to get. The other is a sheet of paper on which, with a BIG marker, I wrote the number of the size I want to fit back into. The size I used to be. So everytime I go to open the fridge and browse for a snack when I'm not even really hungry, I'll see that number and stop myself.

Anyone else using little reminders??

Also, apparently I have a little more to lose than I thought. When I joined I listed my weight as what it was the last time I had a physical. But apparently I weigh 6 more pounds than that. So my weight loss goal is to lose 25 pounds, and fit back into all my clothes.

Subject:Trying to be an intuitive eater
Time:01:26 am
So after a week and a half of trying to start losing weight I can say I have made at least a little progress. That being my attitude about food is changing.

Before I decided to lose weight I would often pressure myself into eating or make excuses for eating badly. For example if I was in a restaurant I would feel the need to eat more because I had payed money for it. But now I have allowed myself to enjoy my food more slowly and to assure myself I can take it home and enjoy it again later. I have also started ordering smaller portions. I went out with a girlfriend a week ago and when i heard her order a half a sandwich I thought "I'll do the same." and I was happy to discover that I wasn't left hungry and I still enjoyed my lunch out just as much.

I haven't gotten very far in the way of excersize yet but I also had relatives visitng this week which threw everything off.

Have any of you read the book Intuitive Eating ?? I read a bit about it today and I'm thinking of picking it up.

Also, I wish there were more members in this group, posting more. Maybe there's a way we can promote and get more brides-to-be in.

Hi my name is Krista and I am getting married June 21, 2008 in an outdoor wedding near the ocean. At my last physical my doctor showed me a chart from all of my past physicals with her and told me I have been gaining 3 pounds a year for the last 5 years and that I need to make some diet and excercise changes so that I can maintain a healthy weight for my height. And now that I'm getting married it means even more to me to get back to my normal weight. So I am planning to go on a diet and start excersising everyday.

I am currently at about 156 and I want to get down to 135 and more importantly tone up. My biggest trouble spot is my tummy, and also my arms.

Here is a current photo of me from the beach today:

So I joined up here for motivation, discussion, and a way to track my progress and remind myself of my goals.

Hi I'm new. My name is Liz. I'm planning on getting married next year. I need to lose 50lbs. Any ideas, I've never really gone on a diet and I need to lose all of this stress weight I gained over the year. Any ideas? I'm one of those busy college students.
