Hi! I'm new. I'm getting married this summer, and I'm trying to lose a little weight by then. Losing 10-15 pounds would be nice, and I think that's a pretty reasonable goal. I have a membership at Curves, but I haven't been working out as often as I should. I plan to change that this week. If anyone has any tips and/or encouragement I would love to hear it. Good luck to everyone!

Since I am a college student I get 3 months of Curves service for $99! So I signed up!

They take your measurements, get your body fat percentage from your first weigh in. Then every week you have it checked to see if you've made progress.

I have my first work out session tomorrow afternoon! You go to so many stations for 30 minutes with a trainer the first time around, then after that you can come in anytime of the week, up to 6 days a week. They recommend that you come in 3 times a week in order to see results. I have a feeling I will be going 5 days a week to get my money's worth! :) Hopefully I just stay motivated to do it! For 30 minutes a day it shouldn't be too rough!

So there's some information for you ladies if you are interested in joining Curves! I'll keep you posted!

Okay, I'm a new member! So I would love to lose weight before my wedding...I have 8 months til the big day! My dress is a womans's size 14(it's from David's), and I know they say that bridal sizes are bigger than what you normally wear....but the thing is I am no longer fitting into my clothes because all I do is work/go to school (im in my last semester), and well...snack. I know that the snacking is stress related. However, I am physically inactive, and I'm quite embarassed by my figure. My self esteme SUCKS to put it nicely. I used to go to counseling for my self-esteeme and it did seem to help, but I would like to join a fitness program like Curves for even more physical support. Has anyone tried it? Had luck with it?

Hello everyone.
I am getting married in October 2007 and I have set a goal of losing 50lbs by then, so I thought this might be the place to find some motivation. I know I need to start exercising more, snacking less (I came to the realization that I am an emotional eater a long time ago), and controlling my portion sizes. It's going to be tough to get started and stay on track, but I think my goal is reasonable and I am hoping to have to pay for alterations to my dress come September 2007.

Hi, I'm new.

My wedding's 4 months away and I'm trying to lose about 30 lbs by then. 30 pounds! you say? Well 30's just a drop in the bucket when you're over 200, so it really isn't that big a deal.

My current routine is this:

1) Workout at Curves whenever possible (I work there, and working out while on the clock isn't as possible as I'd like it to be)

2) 30 minutes of cardio (usually on the elliptical) at least 5 days a week

3) Lift weights/use machines 3-4 times a week. I need some help with the free weights. I basically have no idea what do do. Any pointers?

4) Try to avoid excessive carb consumption. I'd like to be following the South Beach diet, but time and money are making it very difficult.

5) Keep daily caloric intake under 1500. I totally made this number up. It's slightly higher than what I've been averaging recently. I don't know what a good number is.

So, that's that. Any advice?

Trying to weasel out of going tonight.

Bleargh.

Must. Force. Self. To.....Move. Ugh.

Anyone else experiencing exercise burnout? How do you combat it?

EDIT: I made it! ^_^ Now just need to get myself to go tomorrow, and that'll be three times a week! yay!

Hi! New bride-to-be starting out a fitness/diet routine here... Just wanted to post a little hello to the community. My wedding is on April 21, 2007 and I'm trying not to lose too much because I've already ordered my dress and I don't want to pay $50 in alterations. So! I look forward to joining you all in a great journey! Thanks!
